Room Descriptions

1st Floor

The Noble Room was named in honor of L. Russell Noble, former Executive Vice President & General Manager from 1966-1979, in appreciation of his leadership and 28 years of service to the WAC. This room is the perfect venue for an all-day seminar and can be divided into three separate salons if requested.

The Lobby Lounge, located on the north end of the Lobby, is the home of the Chihuly Alcove which was specially commissioned for the Washington Athletic Club by renowned glass artist Dale Chihuly. It is an exquisite spot for a Sunday afternoon brunch or a Friday evening cocktail reception.

3rd Floor

The Legends Room honors the Battleship U.S.S. Colorado. It is remembered here in perpetuity with one wall constructed from her teakwood decks.

The heritage of the WAC is remembered in many ways throughout the Clubhouse, but especially in the Heritage Room. Please enjoy this collection of memories highlighting the history, traditions, families and diversity of the first 75 years.

The Scaylea Room
is named in honor of Josef Scaylea, friend of the WAC's own 101 Club and long-time Seattle resident. Josef served as chief photographer of the Seattle Times for 35 years. He earned more than 1,000 commercial, pictorial and press awards including West Coast Press Photographer of the Year and one of the top 10 Press Photographers of the Nation, ten times each. His pictures have appeared in Newsweek, Sports Illustrated, Life, The Saturday Evening Post, and most all leading magazines.

The Meisnest Room is named for former Club Managers Ken and Darwin Meisnest. They guided the WAC through its growing pains, the depression, WWII, the 50s and the 60s. Their leadership unquestionably helped create the success that produced the largest and finest city athletic club in the United States.

The Crystal Ballroom is aptly named for the exquisite crystal chandeliers that adorn this elegant original 1930s main dining room. This space is perfect for a luncheon for 100 or an unforgettable reception for 300 of your closest friends.

The East and West Rooms adjoin the Crystal ballroom and are excellent function spaces in their own right. Perfect for meetings or dinners up to 50 people, these rooms are easily and logically found by their directional designation.

11th, 12th & 21st Floors

Among guest rooms are the 11th Floor Committee Room and 12th Floor Board Room. With mahogany conference tables and executive conference chairs, both spaces are ideal settings for small business meetings or executive retreats.

For an extra special occasion, crowning the Club on the 21st Floor is the Top of the WAC which offers splendid views of Downtown Seattle, Elliott Bay and the Olympic Mountains. It is an outstanding space for intimate rehearsal dinners or midsize luncheon celebrations.
