The WAC and the Wine Advisory Committee

The Washington Athletic Club, in conjunction with the Wine Advisory Committee, is committed to offering the highest quality wines available, with special emphasis on Northwest wineries. We choose wines that stimulate guest interest, complement the seasonal fresh offerings of our menus and accompany the unique atmosphere of our dining room. Selections tasted and recommended by the committee are designated "WAC.”

The Washington Athletic Club and wine

The Washington Athletic Club wine program is a successful combination of management and WAC members promoting Washington wine. In 1996, the Wine Advisory Committee was created. It consists of WAC member volunteers and members of the Court of Master Sommeliers Level 1. After the Committee approves selections, the Club's Food & Beverage management team implements them into the overall program.

The WAC wine program remains committed to offering the highest-quality wines available, with special emphasis on Washington state, followed by Northwest wineries, and then rounded out with premier California selections and classics from both New- and Old World producers. We choose wines that stimulate member and guest interest, complement the seasonal fresh offerings of our menus and accent the unique atmosphere of Torchy's, WAC Banquets and Catering.

We are pleased to announce that the Washington Athletic Club has, for the second consecutive year, received the Washington Wine Restaurant Awards Grand Award for excellence in our wine program. This award marks the fourth consecutive year that the WAC wine program has been recognized from among many throughout the state.

The Washington Athletic Club was also awarded the Washington Restaurant Association Award for excellence in representing the hospitality industry and Washington wines. This three-year-old award has been awarded to such famous operations as Canlis Restaurant, Seattle; the Marcus Whitman Hotel, Walla Walla; and the Barking Frog Restaurant, Woodinville.
