Saturday Junior ClassesSaturday Junior Classes are offered
in six+ week sessions throughout the year from September
through June. If more than one child per family enrolls in the same
activity, the fee for each is less. Children must be on a family
membership to participate in any WAC Junior Classes. Please contact

to transfer to a family category prior to enrollment. Parents enrolled
in Saturday Junior Classes will receive a punch card for reduced WAC
Parking rates: $3.50 for three hours.Note: Children are not allowed in
the 4th Floor Coed Conditioning area. Please supervise children at all
times when entering or leaving the 4th Floor Studios. FALL II SESSIONNovember 8–December 20Registration: Starts at 8 am on Monday, October 27$48 first child per session $28 second child per session in same activity 1. BalletPre-ballet is an introduction to ballet with an emphasis on body awareness, creativity and basic movement skills in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. At the beginning level, students will be introduced to some basic ballet techniques in a noncompetitive, fun atmosphere. BasketballLearn basketball basics and have fun at the same time! The instructor will cover dribbling, passing, free-throw techniques, ball handling, team concepts, defense strategies, low-post play, fast breaks and rebounding. Dianne Alexander instructs. Family Judo FunJudo is a martial art emphasizing throws and grappling techniques. Benefit by learning discipline, respect, mental and physical training and the values of tradition. Come and join WAC judo instructor Al Alexander for vigorous full-body exercise and conditioning. Family KarateThrough the expert instruction of WAC karate instructor Tom Tanaka, learn basic karate punches and strikes, as well as endurance and listening skills. GymnasticsLearn basic gymnastic skills in a gentle, fun, noncompetitive atmosphere. Kiddy Skills is an introduction to tumbling. Beginning-level students will learn tumbling and low balance beam. Class sizes are limited to ensure the safety of your child. RacquetballLearn the basic stroke techniques and game stratagies, as well as court etiquette and sportsmanship. All levels welcome. Terrific 2s and 3s GymnasticsFridays, November 14–January 16With an emphasis on fun and action, children will explore creative movement, learn listening skills and develop a sense of balance and cooordination. Parent or caregiver joins in class. Ages 2–3; 10–10:45 am; $60; 8th Floor ASC Room; Late registration on a space-available basis Parent–Toddler DanceMondays, December 1–February 16 (10 weeks)In this fun and upbeat class, parent and child dance together! Class includes introduction to basic dance and movement concepts, lots of fun props, parachute play, an obstacle course, games and songs. Learn skills and exercises to practice at home. A great introduction to the joy of dance! Darrah Blanton instructs this popular class. Ages 2–3 (Parent participation required); 1–1:50 pm; $90 No classes December 22, 29Creative BalletMondays, December 1–February 16 (10 weeks)In Creative Ballet, students learn to stretch, leap, chasse, plie and curtsey. This fun and engaging class encourages children to use their imagination. Creative movement skills and basic ballet steps will be introduced. Class includes "dancing out," a weekly story that incorporates different dance elements. Students learn foundational steps, balancing, hopping on one foot, tiptoe walks and twirls. Strengthens social, physical and emotional skills with instructor Darrah Blanton. Ages 4–5; 2–2:50 pm; $90 No classes December 22, 29Weight Training & Fitness for TeensSaturdays, December 6–November 15 (10 weeks)Learn all you need to know about training and fitness in a fun, friendly atmosphere. You'll learn how to use free weights, cardiovascular equipment and more. One thing is certain: You'll watch your muscles grow while having fun! Ages 12–15; 1–3 pm; $150 Holiday Break CampDecember 29, 30, 31Come enjoy 3 fun days at the WAC! We'll play games, enjoy a hip-hop class, learn some karate moves, play games in the gym, go swimming and much, much more. On one of the days, we'll walk a few blocks down to Benaroya Hall and visit Soundbridge–an interactive music exhibit where we can explore different musical instruments. Lunch will be served each day in the Sports Cafe, and snacks will be provided. Bring along a friend if you like. SwimmingPrivate swim lessons are available to members of all ages and swimming abilities. BasketballTroy Miles, the WAC's basketball instructor, is ready to help juniors with their game. Learn the martial art and fundamentals of basketball. Boxing TrainingImprove endurance, strength, flexibility and coordination with personal boxing training. Great for enhancing skills and excellent cross-training for any sport. Open to boys and girls ages 12–18. KarateKarate instruction improves self–discipline, self–confidence, mental alertness and goal–setting skills. Learn basic karate punches, strikes, blocks and kicks from Tom Tanaka, the WAC’s karate instructor. Ages 5+. |
