The 5th Avenue presents their sumptuous new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s smash-hit based on the life of Eva Perón. Set in Argentina between 1934-1952, the Tony-winning musical follows Eva Duarte on her journey from poor illegitimate child to unknown actress to the most powerful woman in Latin America as wife of military leader-turned-president Juan Perón, before her death from cancer at age 33. She had a meteoric rise to sainthood, despite gaining power through a combination of sex, ambition, timing and charisma. Despite widespread controversy, her passion changed a nation forever. With a memorable score, including “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina”, this epic and soaring musical creates an arresting theatrical portrait as complex as the woman herself.
