Washington wines at the WAC
The harmonious pairing of food and wine comes to the WAC yet again by way of a Winemaker Dinner with House of Smith, a Washington wine group dedicated to providing quality vintages that reflect its roots in the Evergreen State.
House of Smith’s commitment to showcasing the beauty of Washington-made wine will be on full display on Friday, October 22, in the Crystal Ballroom with a dinner pairing by WAC Executive Chef Eric Floyd.
Owned by winemaker Charles Smith, House of Smith’s meteoric rise to wine greatness began with Smith’s first winery, K Vintners. Opened in December 2001, K Vintners started with Smith’s 1999 K Syrah, which he began selling out of the back of his van. K Vintners quickly outgrew the trunk of Smith’s 1987 Chevy Astro van and blossomed into a mainstay in the Washington wine scene.
In the years since K Vintners’ humble beginnings, House of Smith wines have not only captured the hearts of wine enthusiasts across the Pacific Northwest, but they also have collected accolades from Wine & Spirits magazine, Wine Enthusiast, Wine Spectator, and Food & Wine, which named Smith its Winemaker of the Year in 2009.
