MORE TO COME IN THE HOMESTRETCH
We’re heading down the homestretch of the Gateway Project. I must lead by saying thank you to the membership for its patience and support. The acceptance of the Lobby rerouting and enthusiasm for the final product has been very strong—and very much appreciated. We’re all looking forward, for many reasons, to our beautiful new WAC Lobby.
With the completion of the most noticeable phase, the pouring of the terrazzo floor, complete by the end of April, we can reopen the main Club doors and return full access to the 1st Floor. Although major elements of construction—including ceiling and infrastructure improvements and the new floor—will be completed, final touches and details remain. Painting, trim work, and installation of the light fixtures will take place in early May. We will also be replacing fixed signage with multifunctional information monitors.
By mid-June, the new furniture and temporary area rugs will fill up the many seating areas, and you can sit and enjoy your favorite coffee drink from the Club Shop coffee service area.
This new WAC Lobby will serve members for generations to come. Our goal was to honor the iconic and historic WAC, and also to create welcoming and enjoyable spaces for our members, guests, and prospective members. Thank you for carrying on with us. The enjoyment is almost here!

THE NEXT PHASE
The Gateway Project is moving forward right on schedule. Now that we are in the process of replacing the carpeting with a beautiful terrazzo, the hard work of preparing and pouring the floor has begun. Because of the nature of these floors, there are a few alternative routes through the Lobby.
Starting Wednesday April 10, this reroute will involve all WAC members using a special entrance to access the Club for approximately 10 to 14 days.
Many of you have already been enjoying the respite in Torchy’s bar during this phase of construction. We invite you to relax in this space, visit with fellow members or even do some work. In the morning, enjoy complimentary coffee, tea, and WAC Signature Sticky and in the afternoon, enjoy enhanced happy hour with menu tastings and cocktail specials.
We will provide signage and guidance to help members and guests reach their destinations within the Clubhouse. All areas of the Club remain in full-service, with the occasional exception of the Club Shop. Our website and WAC Facebook page will continue to share photos and news throughout the process.
Your patience and support of the project is very much appreciated. We look forward to opening our new WAC Lobby!

WE’RE ALMOST THERE!
We are excited to be moving into the homestretch of the Gateway Project. The first phase, the ceiling work, has been largely completed. Improved ventilation—and impressive aesthetics and lighting—are the result. It’s fun and gratifying to see the progress and the changes!
We are now moving on to the floor work. We will be replacing the carpeting with a beautiful terrazzo floor. The hard work of preparing and pouring the floor will begin in late March, with approximately six weeks of work to follow. This phase will be more disruptive and may require 10 to 14 days of shifting club entry to the team member/runner entrance.
We invite you to relax in Torchy’s bar during this phase of construction. In the morning, enjoy complimentary coffee, tea, and WAC Signature Sticky buns while you linger in the bar area to do a little work or visit with fellow members. In the afternoon, enjoy enhanced happy hour with menu tastings and cocktail specials.
We will provide ample signage and guidance to help members and guests reach their destinations within the Clubhouse. All areas of the Club remain in full-service, with the occasional exception of the Club Shop. Our website and WAC Facebook page will continue to share photos and news throughout the process.
We appreciate your patience and support of the project—and your enthusiasm for our new WAC Lobby!

As we continue to focus on maintaining a great member experience during the Lobby remodel, we wanted to update you on some major progress during the the first phase of this project.
During January we were able to complete a substantial amount of electrical, HVAC, lighting, fire alarm and sprinkler systems. These behind-the-scenes upgrade are very important. As we finish up work on these, we will begin closing up the ceiling over the next several weeks.

And away we go!
The much anticipated Gateway Project begins this Sunday, January 6.
Welcome to your new WAC Lobby. We expect the project to take 90 to 120 days for full completion. After listening to input from members, conversations with member leaders and our committees, and contributions from experts in the design and construction communities, we are moving full speed ahead. And we’re excited about the final product.
With strong project management and planning — and a focus on maintaining a good member experience — the main entrance will remain open and the Club will be fully functional throughout the improvement period. The new lobby, complete with modern functionality and amenities, will respect the grand history of our wonderful Clubhouse.
We will post photos and project updates on wac.net and on our WAC Facebook page. We’ll also send a few emails to keep you in the loop. We ask for your patience and support during the construction period, and we hope you share our excitement and enthusiasm for the remodel — something great and timeless to look forward to as we begin 2013!
