2021 Seafair Triathlon Recap

WAC Members shine at Lake Sammamish State Park

Over 1,400 competitors took to the shores of Lake Sammamish to compete in this year’s Seafair Triathlon on Sunday, July 25. Affectionately referred to as “Seattle’s only triathlon,” the Seafair Triathlon drew athletes of all ages and skill levels to Lake Sammamish’s sunny shores, where they conquered both land and sea. The triathlon offered varying race formats—including a course for kids—and those competing in the first 13 waves of the sprint distance triathlon went through a half-mile swim, 14.8-mile bike ride, and 3-mile run. Among the hundreds of triathletes were WAC Triathlon Coach Julie Vieselmeyer and member Jeff Boden. Julie finished at the top of her age group and 55th overall (1:25:31) and has her eyes set on returning to the elite sprint wave next year. Jeff finished second in his age group and fifth overall (1:15:01).

The WAC is proud to be the official athletic club of the Seafair Triathlon. Congratulations and well done to Julie, Jeff, and all those who participated!
