I’ll never forget the day my husband, Erwin, met my parents for the first time. It was Easter, and the four of us were gathering for brunch at the WAC. I remember how Erwin, whom I’d been dating for a few months at the time, spent so long getting ready that we arrived late. I remember my dad and Erwin shaking hands. And I remember how my mom, before brunch was over, pulled me aside and whispered, “He’s the one.”

When Erwin and I decided to take the next step in our relationship, it was an easy choice to pick the WAC as our venue. From the moment I contacted the WAC’s Catering department, I knew we made the right decision.

Growing up, I always wanted a big wedding with the entire wedding party and extended family all staying in the same hotel. The WAC offered that and so much more.

A week after I first called Catering, I was back at the WAC meeting with Senior Catering Sales Manager Katie Takahashi. Katie was extremely helpful at every step. She helped us choose our menu, plan the wedding and rehearsal dinner, coordinate vendors, and keep on track with necessary deadlines.

Just a few weeks earlier, Erwin had proposed during a birthday trip to New York City. At the time, I had no idea how much work planning a wedding actually was. Katie made everything so much easier. And having the Inn at the WAC and Spa at the WAC right inside the same building was truly ideal.

Looking back, it seems like our wedding day arrived even more quickly than my mom’s approval of Erwin. Waking up on our wedding morning in the Elliott Bay Suite felt almost surreal. After a quick workout in Coed Fitness, Erwin and I parted ways for the last time before the ceremony.

While he went for a celebratory brunch with his groomsmen in Torchy’s, I joined my bridesmaids in our suite for hair and makeup. Having the Spa at the WAC pros come right

to my room was simply perfect! Not only did they do a wonderful job, but I also felt completely relaxed and at ease—which isn’t always easy on your wedding day!

Our ceremony took place in the Johnson Lobby Lounge in front of 120 of our closest friends and family members. White rose petals lined the aisle, and soft light spilled in the windows and filled the room in a perfect hue.

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a cocktail hour in the Noble Room while Erwin and I escaped for some quiet time in the Voogd Library. An hour later, we made our grand entrance into the Crystal Ballroom, where elegant tables surrounded a polished dance floor. Everything seemed like a dream. It was as magical as we could ever have imagined. The food was impeccable, the decor was gorgeous, and the bar service was incredible. Our guests still tell us what a wonderful time they had.

I cannot imagine a more perfect wedding day. The WAC already held a very special place in our hearts. Now we also remember it as the place where our lives became one.

As the day ended, Erwin and I returned to the Elliott Bay Suite. Inside, we found fresh fruit and snacks, a surprise gift from the Club. It was an ideal ending to our new beginning.
