Farewell, Mr. Stack

Farewell, Mr. Stack

Harold Stack joined the WAC in 1952 and was the oldest living Club member from 2015 until his death at 103 this past June. Born at Swedish Medical Center on July 5, 1915, Harold attended Roosevelt High School and graduated from the University of Washington in 1937. He served five years in the U.S. Navy during World War II and departed at the rank of Commander.

Upon his return, Harold joined his family’s steel distribution business, Stack Steel and Supply Co. As president, Harold grew Stack Steel into a regional name with branches across the Pacific Northwest. He sold the business and retired in 1977. He spent the following 30 years splitting time between California and Seattle with his wife, Trudy, to whom he was married for 70 years. Harold is survived by his four children, six grandchildren, and eight great grandkids. He died at home in Madison Park on June 14.
