The mentalist.

Franz Polgar, the self-proclaimed “Master of Mental Magic,” performed at the Club on October 6, 1946. A hypnotist who immigrated to the U.S. from Hungary, Polgar was the star of a 15-minute New York television show and toured the country demonstrating the power of the mind through feats of memory, thought transference, and hypnotism. At the WAC, he showed off his skills for members and their teenage children. Following the performance, Polgar was the guest of honor at a Club supper party. Here is his autograph, collected by former WAC employee Ed Moore.
