Kay Knapton: Carnival Grand Marshall!

Montana representative

Kay Knapton, a WAC member since 1989, served as Grand Marshall of Whitefish, Montana’s 60th Winter Carnival parade in early February. Born and raised in Whitefish, Kay reigned as Queen of the Snows in the second-ever Winter Carnival in 1961. As Grand Marshall, Kay opted to walk the parade route instead of riding in a float, saying, “I wanted to demonstrate that someone approaching 80 years of age was fit and able to walk far with a spring in their step!” She credits her regular workouts on the 4th Floor of the WAC with keeping her in shape so she can enjoy yoga, skiing, high-altitude hiking, and global travel. As a Whitefish community ambassador, Kay loves to promote her hometown, located in the Rocky Mountains of northwest Montana. “It’s a great winter and summer destination,” she says. Feel free to ask Kay about Whitefish if you see her around the Club!
