Reciprocal Club: Atlanta
Way down yonder on the Chattahoochee.
This WAC reciprocal club will keep Georgia on your mind
There’s a familiar, melodic feeling to Atlanta, where Southern warmth and charm abound. The WAC’s newest reciprocal partner in Georgia, the Cherokee Town & Country Club, is no exception. Just a short drive north of downtown Atlanta lies the picturesque 18-acre Grant Estate, home to the Cherokee Town Club location. Sixteen tennis and paddle courts and two outdoor pools adorn the lush grounds surrounding the Town Club. The main building, a grand, gabled mansion, houses a fitness center and several lounges and restaurants, including the upscale Grant’s and the more casual Tavern.
Venture another 13 miles north to Cherokee’s Country Club and its green expanse of 36 spectacular golf holes. The original 18, designed to take advantage of the rocky terrain on the hills above the Chattahoochee River, was the first course in the South to feature bentgrass greens. Since its inception, the course has seen two additions of nine holes each, the construction of a beautiful new clubhouse, and a fully reconfigured design created by renowned architect Tom Fazio. With heat-tolerant dwarf Bermuda grass on the North and South courses, and the recent addition of the much-anticipated Learning Center, Cherokee Country Club is a golf-lover’s dream.
Stop by either of Cherokee’s locations and sink into Southern hospitality. Dinner and a swim at the Town Club or a round at the Country Club—either is the perfect cure when you’ve got Georgia on your mind.
