WAC fitness instructor Debbie Officer has spent a lot of time looking up in recent months. Her hard work on the main stairwell inside the WAC Clubhouse helped her emerge as one of the world’s top stair racers. This past November, Debbie competed in SkyRise Chicago at the Willis Tower, climbing 103 flights of stairs in 19 minutes and 26 seconds, good for ninth place among all women and second in her age group. Three weeks later, she went even higher, climbing 119 flights in 26 minutes and 49 seconds to place 16th among all women at the Towerrunning World Association final, held inside China’s Shanghai Tower, the second-tallest building in the world. Debbie teaches cycle and boot camp classes at the WAC.
