WAC wine program’s big win
Wine program again earns top award
You might know that the WAC carries over 600 wines by the bottle and more than 30 by the glass. The selection covers six continents and 91 viticultural areas around the world.
In addition to providing WAC members a robust selection for enjoyment, our wine program also has garnered some major props in the private club industry. In late 2020, we learned that for the third year in a row the WAC received the top award from the Club Management Association of America International Wine Society.
“Like great wine, this award never gets old,” WAC Vice President Food & Beverage Peter Christian says. “Our cellar covers the world, and our members are constantly impressed at the selection they find in WAC restaurants.”
The WAC’s expansive collection includes pioneering Washington state producers as well as vintages from distinct regions around North America, South America, Australia, South Africa, and Europe. You’ll even find a selection from Asia—Lebanon to be precise. In addition, the WAC cherishes its collection of hard-to-find verticals, which have been known to highlight special tasting events.
In a typical year, hundreds of clubs around the world submit their wine lists and wine programing details for review by an expert panel assembled by the CMAA International Wine Society. Typically, fewer than 10 clubs earn the Award of Distinction, the organization’s top honor.
“Not a week goes by where we’re not curating our list,” Peter says. “It’s a labor of love.”
Luckily for WAC members, all you need to go is raise a glass and enjoy!
