Integrative therapies are a proactive way to gain better health and function. For added convenience, we accept insurance for Physical Therapy and Naturopathic Medicine programs.

Acupuncture

The National Institutes of Health recognizes acupuncture as effective in treating more than 40 conditions. Treatments both reduce pain and increase circulation, energy and mental focus. Back pain, neck pain, sciatica, migraines, asthma, tendonitis, anxiety and stress are a few commonly treated illnesses. Acupuncture is great for reducing stress and regaining your sense of balance and well-being. Free 15-minute consultations are available.

Active Isolated Stretching (AIS)

AIS provides effective, dynamic, facilitated stretching of major muscle groups. More important, AIS provides functional and physiological restoration of superficial and deep fascial planes. Using a two-second stretch has proven to be the key in avoiding reflexive contraction of the antagonistic muscle. Without activating muscle-group contraction, restoration of full range of motion and flexibility can be achieved successfully.

Virginia Mason Medical Center podiatric physicians are available in the Wellness Center to address your foot and ankle issues. Members may seek assistance with gait analysis, orthotics evaluations and castings. Because your feet and ankles serve as the foundation for your entire body, the importance of correcting problems in these areas cannot be overstated.

Rolfing® Structural Integration

This hands-on manipulation of the connective tissue was developed 50 years ago. People seek Rolfing to ease pain and discomfort from many different causes including back pain, repetitive motion injury, trauma and aging. It also relieves stress and improves performance in professional and daily activities. Rolfing uses mild, direct pressure to release holdings of fascia, the body’s internal system of flexible support that surrounds every muscle fiber, encases all joints and has a role in the nervous system. The slow, deep strokes stimulate sensory neurons of the muscle nerve, triggering the nervous system to reduce tension. Thus, the body finds health through the re-establishment of balance. Studies show that Rolfing creates a more efficient use of the muscles, allows the body to conserve energy, and creates more economical and refined patterns of movement. Rolfing significantly improves alignment and enhances neurological function.

  • Thursdays: 8-10 am; $115 per hour; By appointment only; One full business day cancellation required

Vitamin B12 Shots

Feeling fatigued? Not sleeping well? Stressed? Noticing symptoms of irritability, lack of drive, reduced exercise capacity, fuzzy thinking or tingling in your hands or feet? All these symptoms could be caused by a vitamin B12 deficiency. Regular use of heartburn medications, certain anti-diabetic medications, antibiotics and a vegetarian diet can increase a vitamin B12 deficiency. Vitamin B12 is an essential vitamin used by our bodies to support optimal nerve, brain, and cardiovascular function as well as to increase energy, healing time, and our resiliency under stress. In times of high stress or poor digestive function our B12 levels become depleted, leaving us tired, mentally foggy, and in severe cases causing numbness and tingling in our hands and feet. When our bodies are deficient, B12 supplementation can support a gentle elevation in energy levels, higher quality sleep, increased mental clarity, better immune function, and much needed protection for our heart and brain. In addition, for those taking antidepressants, researchers have found better results from medication with concurrent vitamin B12 shots.
